Is the spray worth taking chances on a STOCK motor for some extra HP, in my opinion...no.
Obviously you know little about the giggle gas. A 100 shot is an absolute breeze on our motors. Your implications are total nonsense. I have run over 200 passes, sprayed passes, not including n/a passes, and all the way to 250rwhp shot on bonestock longblock. I did finally break a ringland at the dyno (vid available) with a true 285rwhp shot, but was due to tuning error more than the actual n2o. Now if you really want to know the safe way to spray, it's really easy, just run a dry hit as virtually nothing will happen on a properly set-up system. This can not be said for wet hits. I have mucho info on running nitrous on the stock block if ya want it. Check my sig. Top ET Records for "Stock LongBlock M12/LS6, with any Power Adder" are all held by dry hits, whereas, the blowers, turbo(s) and wet kits have come up short. The recorad is currently at 10.5 with a dry hit. So in closing, I would like to hear your personal experiances with nitrous and the LSx platform.

This article will give you a proffessional perspective and some things to consider when thinking about adding an N02 system to you car.

Good luck!
Just guessing, but if you don't know how to spell it (and then it stands to reason you don't know it stands for something) I doubt you have the authority to claim others should follow your advice in this area.

I'm going to quote the article your referenced now:
"As you can see, nitrous oxide is like any other power increasing modification in that, when used wisely and installed properly, it works well."

take that into serious consideration. He also specifically speaks to '82 or 84' engines being brought up to 300hp.... aka--- Carburated motors. This has nothing to freakin do with LSx engines. If he's used a 20# bottle in 20 seconds he was having a helluva good time while doing it... aka, there was more in the cockpit than the motor...

I'm not a nitrous expert by any stretch of anyones imagination but I'd say there are plenty of them here available to tell you their experience (read: something you don't have in this subject matter from what I can tell) says it can be safely and effectively run.

That being said, I'll take a blower setup over a bottle every day of the week.. if i'm going to weaken my motor it sure as hells aint going to be 1/4 mile at a time, I want it ALL the time.

If you are not willing to accept those facts leave her stock.
Exactly.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Totally was waiting for someone to catch that N02 thing.

We appreciate your concern and warning.

I feel that most engine failures are due improper safety precautions and tuning. For example, not running a window switch with rpm pills and injecting nos under 3k rpm. Not running enough fuel for the big shots and running lean. If you take all the necessary precautions you can safely run ALOT of nitrous.

I used to use 100 hp jets and my buddy used to use 150 hp jets on our ta's. We went through alot of bottles. Both vehicles are running stong as ever and mine is past 110k miles.

My next project is a supercharger with all the bolt ons, on high compression, on a 112 lsa cam.

While it may not be a risk some are willing to take, some try to make it a reason to upgrade. Do I have a higher chance of cracking a piston or spinning a bearing? Yes. But that is the risk I and many others are willing to take. Forged block here I come. But, until that day..

Hp alway comes with a cost. You have to upgrade your cluth, output shaft, forged block, etc. I am firm beleiver with a conservative tune this engine can handle up to 500 rwhp on the stock bottom.
