hey, could someone tell me which model Optima Yellow Top i need for my c5? ive seen d31,d34,d35 online so far with varied pricing and am unsure what the differences are or which to use for my 2000 c5.
also, any recommendations on spark plugs? im about due to replace my plugs, which are generally considered to be the best?
thanks a lot for the advice!

as Danziger pointed out, its a deep cycle dry cell, and has a pretty good reputation from what ive heard. not sure that the yellow top is a good fit for everyone, but its good for people who are tricking out their sound system. not that i have a solid understanding of deep cycle batteries, but from what i gather they are pretty good for those who dont drive their car as often.
You may want to search again, I have a red top and it is the most trouble I have ever had with a battery. Next time it dies I will replace it. Tired of taking the things back to pep boys.
they just look cool compared to a regular shaped battery, other than that nothing special , Ill never go that route again , I got caught up in that here ,twice the price of a good battery, not worth it,quess youll have to buy & see for yourself.
"At DC Battery, we have been shown tests in which the a bullet is fired into an Optima leaving a huge hole in the center. Even with the battery's interior exposed, there was no leakage and when placed into a vehicle, it performed perfectly."
The battery in the corvette is right above many expensive parts, and the bottom of the battery box even makes a nice funnel for the acid to spill down. For me that $70 or $80 extra is cheap insurance.
You have to make sure you buy a fresh one though...look at the date. They can stand unsold for a very long time. This is my second one, the first one I had to take back after a few days as well.
Consumer Reports did a battery test a few months ago. They said there are only 3 manufacturers of batteries in the US. They make them to whatever specs are requested by the seller.
Consumer Reports recommended two batteries as their "Best Buys", one was the Everstart by Walmart and the other was the Duralast by Autozone.

I had nothing but problems from a Everstart Wally World battery finally after the third time it died got my money back and bought a Duralast from Autozone. This was on our Suburban.

Sorry, but each of my three previous red tops had been manufactured with in two months of me getting them. I let the Vette sit for a week last month while waiting for parts the red top died. It took 6 tries over 36 hours to get it to take a charge, its working ok now but I'm tired of having this drama...
Yes, the battery does sit on top of the PCM, but its the wiring that would get expensive to replace not so much the PCM. But, the other better gell or AGM type batteries would give the same leak protection.
I'd love to say that red top is a good buy, but its too problematic for me.

I've had my Optima in service for almost 4 yrs now and never had any problems, including a couple trips to the airport where the car sat in the parking garage there for a week each time.
Have you at least explored the possibility of excessive parasitic drain from your electrical system when the car is off?

I have zero drain and after 4 years (much of it sitting with a battery tender) the Optima red top is dead without warning. I will pick up my new one in the morning, it is a Delco.
