"The stock 02 C5 has about 358-362 at the rear stock and yes you will get up
to 394 with the Ram Air induction System. You do not need the MAF and MAT
sensor for the stock units for 2002 are much larger and flow over 1000 CFM

THis doesnt sound right. THe 2002's come stock with 350 hp and I thought that was at the flywheel not rear wheel. Also has anyone confirmed this 44hp improvement with the ram air and powerduct installed? It seems like a whole lot of ponies for what it is. Why would chevy go through all they did to the Z06 to get an additional 55hp ie: hollow valve stems etc. when they could have just improved the intake. I need to see real proof before I drop ~$600+ for an intake. Any dyno results or peronal experiences would be appreciated. The problem I get is that most people have several other mods in addition to the intake so its hard to isolate the actual HP gains.
thanks,
Maurice
Ernie just e-mailed me and confirmed that 360hp was indeed at the flywheel not the rear but even so a 34hp gain to 394 hp seems like alot to me. How much would this affect 0-60 and 1/4 mile times?
My Vortex intake made 16rwhp on the dyno without the benifit of the "ram air" effect during real world acceleration. 34hp sounds a bit high, but I would fully believe 20-25hp.....
Go with the Vortex ($200-250) and LAPD High Flow Air duct and Coupler ($175). I've also gone with the Granatelli (MAF 5% rich-$275)). At best my '01 makes 20 HP with this combo. At best, 25.
