Anybody know of problems with C5 HVAC? I have the dual zone climate control, it's acting like a bad programmer (blend door not working), and set@90 degrees it has POOR heat output. I had a few problems a couple of weeks back with poor airflow when in the heat setting, now I have barely warm air passing through the system. I tried clearing out the BCM by disconnecting the battery, no DTCs present before or after. Anyone have any ideas? I'm dropping the car off Thursday at the dealer for other work, and I have my daily driver apart for suspension work that I plan to finish Wednesday after work...but I'd prefer not to freeze during my 1 hour commute.
Re: HVAC Problem- NO HEAT AND IT"S COLD OUT! (NJVetteGuy)
I've had a similar problem like this on my '97 Grand Prix. The first time it happened, it turned out to be a faulty actuator. I can't be more useful other than telling you there are a few actuators that open and close some doors/flaps on both the driver and passenger side - the repair involved the dealer calling the GM support people to troubleshoot. The other time was pretty similar...I found some areas of the plastic ducting and nicely slapped it a few times and it started working again. :D
Re: HVAC Problem- NO HEAT AND IT"S COLD OUT! (HTWHLS)
HTWHLS, I had a '96 Impala SS I sold to buy my C5....when I had an intermittent heat problem on there I changed the blend door actuator and that fixed it. I haven't gone into the dash on the Vette due to lack of time, just trying to see if anyone has a "band-aid" to hold me over until I make the dealer fix it. However, if the dealer can't get it right I will be fixing it myself.
