but do our cars have different pistons on even numbered cylinders versus odd numbered cylinders? I always thought that all 8 pistons were identical but was told differently earlier, so just want to make sure...
In the early 70's auto manufactures did weigh every piston and match them within the engine. I do not know if they went as far as half and half (even and odd) within the engine.
The piston rod assy is different for 1-3-5-7 & 2-4-6-8. The pistons are all the same, but the piston rod assy is specific. Get your facts straight. Put a 1-3-5-7 assy in a 2-4-6-8 hole & you are gonna have trouble. Do a little more research next time before claiming BS.

Wow ... and you know what ... the intake and exhaust valves are different ...
But READ THE OP ... he asked if the PISTONS were different ... I'm certainly not gonna detail every part of the engine that are different ... I (and others) simply answered his question.

The customer came in with a dropped valve (we did not build the motor) and we ordered a new piston/rod assy. It came in for the wrong bank & we told him. He posted here and of course did not post the right question, and then you & others jump on with the BS crap so of course HE thinks we BS'd him......so turn it around and see the issue you caused. If you had enough knowledge to know both options you would be qualified to make a statement, but it's obvious you don't so why cause trouble? Have I ever caused you any trouble before?
