I just sold my Dynamaxx 1 3/4" headers after I picked up a set of 1 7/8" ARH's. I went to a 402 and decided to upgrade the headers.
All I can say is the support from ARH's is unbelievable! Every time I call with a question, the response back is quick and positive. Nick and George have been great.
What is the $$$ diff between AHR and LG? Also it looks like AHR go in from the bottom on both sides. They look like an easier instal. Anyone with instal experience want to chime in...
Kendo, Anyone who believes there's that much difference in torque between the two brands at 4000 rpm may also be interested in buying the Brooklyn Bridge for a dollar. The facts are ARH's will in most cases produce as much torque if not more in the lower rpm ranges than LG's or any other brand without sacrificing top end power. ARH offers more than one system for these cars and when sized properly will deliver substantial gains throughout the rpm range. Do yourself a favor and don't believe the continuous and self promotion. We've done the testing countless times and nothing stated in that post holds water.
I apalogize about that link. I was referring to Mamo's post not that other increase bs. I will edit it. I should have just copied mamos post. I do have an open mind and if you have an actual comparison of these 2 headers on a same vehicle post it up. I am biased due to the fact that I have them and I still beleive they are the best for street use until otherwise proven wrong.
With all due respect to all the forum vendors and shadetree mechanics who contribute here, I've heard this many times and seen it posted in many threads but have yet to witness actual dyno comparisons of the various header models back-to-back on the same vehicle.
Obviously anyone whose family depends on selling a product is going to hype it....that only makes sense. But let's see some dyno's of the same car/same day/different headers and no tune. Then do some pulls with optimized tuning and compare the results. This I think would help us all out and better direct our mod paths. Just a thought...
How much of a flow difference on a stock motor is there between 1 3/4 and 1 7/8. Most of the info I have seen shows that 1 3/4 will support some pretty big hp and some heavy breathing.
2. Comparable in price to more popular and hyped brands like ARH and Kook's
3. Very little marketing/advertising
Either way, they are considered by experts to be a very good header and to hear some tell it, one of the easiest sets to install. I guess most people look at it as for the same price they can go with ARH. Now if Melrose headers were a couple of hundred bucks less than the competition (like the LG's and the Texas Speed's) they'd get more press and be found more often...
I went with the LG Pros.
I was told afterwards that the Stainless Steel Works are best of all for the LS1/LS6 engine. A much better fit, O2 sensors bongs in the right places.
But I am happy with the LGs.
Good luck...
TPIS, Breatless, Kooks, now the LG Pro's
Since the LG's were super easy to install and make the most power they will remain indefinately.
When you have the best, you tend to stick with it.
God there are so many opinions on this subject they are apperently all very close in what they forcast / advertsise , I got used dynomax whit all tne xtras GO for the best price as long as they are stinless , you wiil pay through the nose for the bran names and will get so little extra HP for the price MY OPINION GOOD LUCK IN YOU SELECTION
