They are two different parts. The part with the cats is called an H-pipe, it goes from the manifold to just before the rear axel. The mufflers sections go from there over the "axel" to the mufflers.
Maybe post a WTB add in the parts for sale section.

Sorry, should have said it. Any stock H pipe should fit. And the mufflers are interchangeable as well.

Why do you say your cats are bad? Throwing codes? Rattling? "Technically" it is illegal to put on used cats on your car i believe. If they are bad, get some aftermarket ones .

Whether your CAT's are bad or not the 2001 and up coupe, vert and Z-06 center exhaust sections are the same. (Center Section: from the exhaust manifold to near the transmission where the muffler section bolts up, including cats and H-pipe) The catch is that your 1997 vette has a different exhaust manifold than the Z-06 and 2001+ vette's. If you check you should see that your manifold is formed sheet metal, the 2001+ manifolds, including Z-06's are cast iron. Because of that no Z-06 center section will fit your car without changing the manifolds. Also the Z-06 center section isn't really that special, it's the pipes and mufflers after the center exhaust that are made of Ti and special to the Z-06's.

Sorry to bare the bad news. Long story short, 2001+ center sections need cast manafolds. But any year C5 muffler section will bolt to any year C5 center section.
