C5 Owners which gas stations do U use? Does it Matter...
C5 Owners.. which gas stations do U use? Does it Matter because if the gas pump states 91 Octane then its OK to use. Right no wrong...help! Each gas station states they have this additive or that ingredient. High performance, smooth clean engine etc. I was told that the gas all comes from the same refinnery. I need to be educated on this gas thing.

The base gasoline might be the same, but each company adds their own additive package. I do notice a difference in my car depending upon the gas I use. I have the most consistent good performance using Amoco ultimate. BTW. Amoco and BP are now the same since BP bought Amoco. Mobil and Exoon also merged, but I'm not sure if they are dispensing identical gas yet.

No Sunoco here... :cry I use Chevron whenever possible as I think their additive package is a good one. Pick two or three good brands and switch every 5 or 6K, to keep the internals clean and the injectors in good shape.

A C5 tech here in California told me that he saw a lot of cars come in due to clogged injectors. He recommended after repair to use Techron, do not know if there is any truth to it working, but I have been using Chevron and have had no problems.

I have a cousin who just retired from Amoco. He told me that when fuel injection really got started they needed a new additive for, what would be, Amoco Ultimate. They did quite a bit of research and found Techron to be the best all around. They also did a cost buy analysis and decided it was better to buy in from Chevron, so to his knowledge, Amoco still has Techron and he feels it is the best safe cleaner.
