I currently have a pro-torque 2400 that I'm very happy with it on the low end. My problem seems to be at top end as the car seems to flatten out once it gets into 3rd gear. This happens while at the 1/4 mile track at speeds in excess of 85mph. The car switches to 3rd at about 77 mph. I do have a reprogrammed computer but that was installed prior to getting the 2400 converter. I have some great insight from other forum members, but I wanted to find others with my type of problems....Are there any others out there????
So true, the low end is great. Sounds like you need a higher rated T/C, PT- 2800. Maybe a Yank 3500 with a STR of 2.3 (Special Made), the standard STR (1.6) is not enough.
I just changed out my protorque 2400 for a Yank 3500 because of a Stage II h/c install. For the exact reason you describe. I loved the PT but its not enough for top end of a h/c car. The Yank will give you more mid range.
I was trying to find another way around replacing the converter.....Did anybody do any kind of programming that can help?? I'm in the process of making phone calls to some tuners to see what they think, but I figure somebody must have found a way to get more top end with a 2400 converter/3:15 axle combination....
Tabbruz, Give Carmen or Dennis at the Vette Doctors a call. Perhaps they can help you with your problem. However I think 3.42s might help your mid range acceleration.
