My Tonneau release is not working when I push the button. The windows roll down, and it makes the latchy sounds, so I know the button is working, and if the cover is in the up position you can see the latch move.
I have tries cleaning it and spraying it with WD-40, and cleaning it and using some graphite, and nothing. It opens fine when I pull the release cable so I know it is not jammed.
Any thoughts before I break down and take it to the dealer?
Could the latch be defective in that you can release it manually with the cable but when you rely on the electricity it won't unlatch. In other words, you can exert more mechanical effort with the cable than the electric latch? Maybe a latch replacement is in your future, or that of your car?
