I am just installing a CLB on my 99 6-speed and I am wondering what other "little" snafu's that I should concern myself with before I go on a road trip. The car had 68K on it when I purchased it in August and I have put about 4K on it since.
I would much rather fix something before it goes bad instead of finding myself in "bfe" with a car fixer who doesn't even know what kind of car it is!
check the condition of your two belts...
I assume your brake pads have been checked for remaining life
When was your last oil change?
When did you check the rest of your fluid leverls...
Just the basics... at 66K you Vette is just broken in...
I have done the obvious..Brakes, belts, fluids. It is those sneay little things like locking-up of a steering wheel that I don't know about that concerns me.
Check battery, battery connections and grounds. See sticky at the top of the tech forum. My 99 has 116,000 miles. After I installed the clb the only problems I had were with starting. These were fixed by cleaning the battery, alternator, and ground connections and using dielectric grease and marine corrosion block on all connections. If it still has the original battery I would replace it.

If you got the CLB taken care of, that is one of the primary show stoppers.

From and earlier reply: I have been very diligent about the battery and its connections. I went so far as to remove it and the tray and cleaned everything underneath.
From the last post: I have printed the "path" to running the diagnostics and do that every so often just to keep an "eye on everything"

Thanks again.
Good tips for you here, including checking for any codes. BTW, you can completely disregard codes U1016H, U1064H and U1096H if you are not experiencing any problems with your RFA system. These codes are very common "repeaters" and will at some point show up again and again. Like I said, disregard them. Also, one correction. You CAN check for codes with the engine running or even while driving for that matter, although I would exercise caution doing it while driving.
