Default rims sizes

The stock size rims for my vette are 17" in the front and 18" in the rear.
Do you think going to 17" front and 17" rear will allow me to pick up faster?

If you did that, you will only succeed in throwing off your AH/TC unless you reprogramed the PCM to reflect the change. I don't see any benefit to going with smaller wheels on the rear axle. In fact, I would venture to say you would HURT your acceleration rather than help it.

Default Go faster-change the gear ratio!

If you change wheel sizes it should be because of the "look" you're after, not to increase your acceleration. If you want to accelerate faster-change your differential ratio!!

not necessarily a 100% true although I will agree with you when you say it is for looks and for improved acceleration to change to a higher gear ratio.Unsprung weight makes a huge different in acceleration.Correct me if I am mistaken but for every pound you save in wheel weight(so .25 pounds per wheel for instance)that is equivalent to 75 pounds of weight on the vehicle.Same concept can be seen whenever you drive solo compared to with someone in the vehicle.I have had 250+ pound guys in the car with me and it kills the acceleration and well as general slowing down, especially city driving.

As for the wheels though,I wouldn't get 17's all around. If you are looking to change your wheels, you need to look into a set of lightweight 18/18 or 18/19 setup from somewhere like BBS or HRE.

but dont forget that you WILL have to reprogram the PCM or you WILL experience AH/TC problems.
