Have a 2001 C5 and when i first turn the car on, the turn signals work fine, then after driving for a little, they stop working? Nothing.....no lights, no sound. What could this be?
So you can't just pull it out via the Hazard switch? You must take the radio and etc. out as well?
You can't just take it out as the hazard switch. You have to remove the cap and punch it back into the dash after releasing the clip. It takes a fair amount of force to knock it back in there and then you have to reach through the radio hole to pull it out.
At least the directions in this thread are easier than the service manual instructions. They tell you to remove the whole dash.

This just happend to me for the first time about 5 hours ago! I have the same issues that you do on my 2001 6speed
Because you don't use your hazard switch much (I hope), the contacts can become coated or corroded. Sometimes, if you tap the switch off and on rapidly several times in succession, it will clean them off and the turn signals will work. Sometimes for months. Just cycle your hazard switch occasionally if it keeps them working. Easier to try than taking out the radio and changing the switch. If it doesn't work, didn't cost you anything.
The link that RSW.1 posted is one of the best fix-its I've ever used. I did mine a couple of months back. Overall it took me less time than posted, just taking it easy. Be carefull when putting your fingures through the raido mounting brackets to grab the switch once it's punched back. They are razor sharp. I'd recommend fishing the switch in and out of position with two screw drivers or something, sort of like using chop sticks. The only thing I questioned was, Why didn't I do this sooner? Good luck
