I will be adding a Vararam intake and professional tune to my C5 and was wondering if I would be gaining anything to add a velocity stack being offered by Vararam. Any input would be appreciated.
Unless you have installed one your self - how do you know it don’t work? I do think at WOT it could reduce power slightly but from idle to 3000 or 4000 rpm it works great! I installed one about two years ago and it made a difference. I could tell immediately. How could I tell? For one SOTP was awesome. For two I drove the car earlier that day and then test drove the same route and now I could not get traction or would loose traction on takeoff or on the on ramps were before I had very little or no tire spin (both with TC on). I did several tests and I never had this kind of traction loss before on any pavement surface. How much HP? I don’t know - I don’t care - all I know is at low rpm throttle response was great and very easy to install. Now I do think porting is the best way to go and I plan on doing that this winter (and sell the velocity stack). If you are planning on doing a bunch of mod I would get the TB ported. BUT if you only plan on doing a few mods like a cold air intake and exhaust then the velocity stack would be a great addition IMO. Feeling is believing.

Don't waste your coin a a throttle body insert, a port job, an aftermarket MAF, or any of that stuff. Intake on a c5 is very well setup, the exhaust side is more restrictive, hence the number of cams out there with exhaust bias, and the reason the stock cam is biased towards exhaust. All you need is access to fresh air. Vararam (or Honker, Vortex, MTI, etc.) will do that for you, but so can the stock setup modified:
Just spend $$$ on a tune, forget the rest of that stuff. The only simple performance bolt-on you should ever spend $$$ on are headers.
Otherwise, save for gears, cam, heads, other major mods. Intakes, MAFs, throttle bodies, inserts, cat-backs, etc. will drain your wallet quickly and you'll still only have a low 13/high 12 second car.
I have had one on both of my C5s. It improves the throttle response. Of course it may not be as good as a ported one, but for the 40 bucks, its nice and cheap and simple to install and remove.
BTW, a SLIGHTLY smaller bore size doesnt always mean that it will make less power than stock.......its supposed to smooth and speed up the air flow which gives you better response.

Thanks for your opinion however many members want SIMPLE bolt ons and don’t want to sink big bucks or a ton of time in the engine. For most the CAI and Cat back will be as far as they will go so a ported TB/velocity stack may work fine for them. Most corvette owner never take there ride to a race track anyways. It realy all depends on how they use their ride.

My 99 came with one in it, I noticed a difference when I took it off, I put it back in.
From what I can tell reading this thread is people that never used it are saying it doesn't work and it is a waste of money. People that have used it are saying it woirks and they definately noticed the difference.
Is there anyone that has had one of these installed that didn't notice a difference or noticed that it made things worse?

You make an interesting observation.
Chuck "Cow", the tuner, seems to think it's worth doing in combination with the Vararam intake if you aren't wanting to port and polish. He states that it will indeed increase the air velocity through the throttle body. To be sure, any improvement would be a small incremental one.
