Default Remove transmission A4

Normally when you remove the transmission you unscrew the torque converter as well to take it out WITH the transmission.I assume it is the same with this 4L60-E?(just asking because it is bolted on the torque tube instead of the motor)How do I turn the torque converter to get to all 3 bolts?

In order to get to all 3 bolts U are gonna have to either lay on Your back & Pull the Rubber Peice thats mounted on your A4 out ,tHAT will give u acess to the Bolts Then u can either bump your starter & Have another person down there looking @ it when u get to that paticular bolt ,Or take the belt off ,grab a 24mm & Big Cheater Bar & Manually Turn the Crank while someone is looking @ the Bolts telling u when to hold so u can get to that Bolt,it is gonna take 2 people ,to do it either way This is the only way i know of ,there maybe someone else that does it a diffrent way ,other than pulling the cradle & Dropping everything ,this will be the easiest way to acsess the Converter /Bellhousing Bolts

Okay, next question...I have a small lift that will lift the car 20".Will this be enough to get that tranny out?The midlle storage compartment(where my cd-changer is)has a total of 20" height to the floor. There are guys who have done it with jackstands...maybe they can tell me the pro's and con's.

Let me preface my answer with I have never actually remove it myself. On how to's on the forum I generally have seen that people had to use blocks of wood in addition to the jack and jackstands. I would do a search for the how to articles to see if they say exactly how high you need the car off the ground.

I found my answer in Mike Mercury's topic on how to swap a diff...

The front was driven up my own design 10" ramps, and the back of the car was on jack stands (placed at the side rear jacking points). The jack stands were set to 16" height and a hockey puck was placed on the top of each to protect the car.

It's also NOT nescecerry to remove the TT at the front of the engine to remove the tranny?
