Anybody have any ideas of what is causing this and how to fix this? The passenger side window will moves (1/16 or so) when held at the top and pulled or pushed, in comparison with the driver's side door which virtually does not move at all.
mine has the exact same problem. I have suspected my car has been painted which would also explain why my external door seal (trim) at the top of the door is loose in a few places. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm in the process of replacing these seals on both doors. If I find out anything on the window rattle, I'll update this thread to let you know.
My 04 has the factory paint. I recall that a passenger got out and closed the door with alot of force (slammed). My guess is that the glass was used by the passenger to close the door. I could not find anything in the Service Manual that deals with this problem other than the door seals. This goes beyond door seals as there is a slight wobble to the glass when the passenger door is open. This is not the case with the driver's door where the glass does not have any wobble.
The window glass is held in the regulator assembly by a clamp with rubber lining on each end of the glass. I would pull the door panel off, and make sure the clamp bolts are tight. Not too tight or the glass could break, but snug enough so that the glass is not loose. I guess it is even possible that the rubber lining has come out on one side and the glass is rattling against the metal clamp.
You might also check the 4 bolts that hold the whole regulator assembly in the door.
I would guess that with the door panel off, you will be able to spot the problem. As was mentioned, closing the door by the glass will eventually break something.
