Default 2003 C5 Headlight Shake....fix?

Hi...thanks For Reading This....i've Got A 2003 C5.....the Right Headlight "shakes".....there Is Enough Vert "slop" In The Light Assy To Create A Very Annoying Shake When Driving With The Lights On....i've Looked At The Linlage Below And It Appears There Should Be Some Provison To Adjust The Pressure In The Actuator Or Its Mounting To Put More Pressure Against The Headlight......i Would Greatly Appreciate Any Info That Will Help Me Take Care Of This.....thanks Again...mike

do you have HID bulbs? the jiggle is usually only noticible when HIDs are installed.

when the headlamp doors are up, can you still wiggle slightly wiggle them up and down?

Default Thanks for the reply

...i'm not sure what HIDs are....mine are what i'd call the typical halogen type.....the left side has no vert slop...???....surely there is a fix....driving down the road the light really shakes....the whole headlight assy is loose vertically

I was helping a friend who had a similar problem. We found that the motor only had two bolts in it. This allowed the motor and the assembly to wobble. You should be able to see if all the bolts are in the motor when the light is up and the hood is up.

Hope this helps. JD

yeah if your whole housing is rocking that badly, there's most likely a major problem that can easily be figured out if you take it apart and get in there.

the minor jiggles that occur with HID bulbs are harder to track down.

Which bolt fell out? Meaning, where was it before it fell out? Electric motor mount bolt linkage bolt ect?

To the OP it sounds like the same problem I'm having but could be a different issue causing the shake. From everything I read there may be no one over riding issue that causes this to occur.

Did anyone ever post a diagram of the headlight assembly? I'm looking for one. My 'shake' issue is from the rolled pin in the top of the 'lift link'. The 'cap nut' that is pressure fitted on the end of it came off and the pin exited the car on the road. I tried to find a replacement pin and came close, but need the exact pin size with the nylon bushing for smooth operation and no rattle. If no dirgram, does anyone have any close up pic's of the whole assembly. Any help?

I'm looking for the Nyliner bushing. What the previose poster called the cap nut. I can find them for a C4 but not a C5. Since I don't know if they are the same size I hadn't tried them yet.

Looks kinda like this...

Here is a pic of the pin you speak of, I bought the item off the classifieds. I don't have a more detailed pic and I'm not home where I could take a new pic. As far as a diagram goes I doubt there is one. The deal parts fiche for the headlight assembly is not very good in detail or quality.
