Default Running lean with Vortex?

My 2001 coupe seems to ping ever so slightly on very cold nights at high RPM since I installed the Vortex. It runs like a bat out of hell and the power is still there even at high RPM's My guess is that it's running a little lean. Is there any cheap diagnostic tool I can use to check injector duty cycles, knock sensors, etc. or anything that will clue me in as to what exactly is going on?

Thanks.

I thought I was running a little rich looking at my XR-1's tips after putting on the vortex.

Even after 100 miles at Laguna Seca last weekend at high revs, I did not hear any pinging.

I was thinking opening up the intake and not changing any computer codes would make the car run a little rich.

seems to ping?

Is it audible pinging or you just suspect there is Knock Retard occuring?

If you feel there is an issue. An OBD-II scanner is a must to start off with, like Autotap or EASE.

My '01 with Vortex, Granatelli MAF, and LAPD High Flow Air Duct pinged after two relearn processes and 93 octane. Told Granatelli, and he sent me a MAF with a 5% calibration.

No more pinging in super hot temps, and safe to add some mods that might lean her a little bit.

RichieRich,

If you haven't already done so.....try a tank of gas from a different station. Would you believe that some of the unscrupulous are peddling lower octane as the higher octane. :D

I't stick with a major brand station as I experimented with this. This is something easy to check out if you don't have an AutoTap.

Good luck.
