You sure can, but not if you are really picky about your idle and lope... There are lots of guys getting that kind of rwhp through stock heads. I imagine it will typically take a cam in the 230's. Like LG's G5X2. Cobra4B has that cam on his Z06 and he's hitting 436whp through stock heads. The G5X2 is a 232/240 .595/.608 on a 112 or 114.

My car is his older brother, without the fast 90. ECS cam only, stock untouched ls6 heads. Ask for the George Z Cam. 430 rwhp, a 70 rwhp gain.

Well I am kind of jumping in on this thread but I have been thinking about the same thing.
My goal is 425 RWHP,Because my 03Cobra made 448rwhp and was heaver so at 425 things should be equal.
I have an 00FRC. Could I make my hp goal with stock heads, aftermarket cam, headers Xpipe decent cat backs, and I guess an ls6 intake.
Then next question. Can the cam be installed with the engine in the car?
And you guys getting high HP from stock heads are the heads ported etc?

A head and cam swap can be done with the engine in the car, just need to remove the radiator, water pump, steering rack and alternator to make room. Its not bad at all LS1howto.com has a great write-up, I just finished mine with ported ls6 heads and the G5X3, LG Pro headers and 25% pulley and made 450/411.
So 420 can be done with a mild cam and headers

Give us a call: 813-628-0080 and JP can go over all the options, pro's/con's, etc. We have some specials going on now that you can get in on. You can also test drive a car or 2 here with heads/cam to see if it is what you want.

if you make 425rwhp compared to 445rwhp in an 03 cobra, the corvette will pull the crap out of the cobra. the corvettes are like minimum 500lbs lighter. my friends 03 cobra weighed 3700+lbs. hardtop/6speed. and 445rwhp is around what my friends made as well.

you could prolly have 395rwhp or so and it would be pretty good race against an 03 cobra with 445rwhp.

Its on a 112LSA and streetability is close to stock, with the ocasional bucking trying to creep around in a parking lot, but once the rpms get going there is no problem. For everyday driving its good i can cruise in 6th going 50 no problem. I did a mild P&P on the heads with great results, but i had to fly cut since i used .04 cometic, and only cut .025 on the intake side and non on exhaust, but if you use stock gasket and not mill the heads you should not need to.
For my complete setup and dyno graph http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1841461 I highly recommend this cam, or maybe the X2 if its to much
Good luck with your setup

110%
I was just at the track with my 410whp 99 FRC, and I was pulling the same 1/4 time, but 7mph faster than a 440whp '03 Cobra with DR's. He was running 12.40's at 110mph. MPH seems a little slow to me... I'm a little skeptical of his whp #'s, but he said it was pullied with a full exhaust, which my experience says should be making at least 440.

At 410whp, I have 7.68#'s/hp. At 475whp, an '03 Cobra would have 7.71#'s/hp. The weight of the Vette is such a BEAUTIFUL thing!

Edit: P.S. I only got one run in with this car ever, so no badmouthing my wussy 12.40 @ 117.4. I know she has a lot faster time waiting in there; I bogged the crap out of the launch.

I checked out LS1howto.com, it was a great right up. It does seem like a lot of work. I got to thinking. My car has 83k miles on it so I am wondering whither it is worth doing all that work on that engine.

Seems the work to pull the engine is not much more work. So I was thinking maybe I would pull the engine and swap for a crate motor or a locally built ls1.
