Default Running w/o cats... no codes!

I removed both cats the other day and thanks to a good tune and shutting off the COT (o2 sensors still on) I have no codes! The car sounds great and I have no mufflers. Stock manifolds(not for long), straight h pipe to Borla straight pipe exhaust. No soot just great sound. That night some guy pulled up to me at a red light and asked what Ived done to the car and that it sounded awesome, and I only have mild bolt-ons! Since I have a good tune, I know Im not polluting(that bad) and I think you cant beat the sound if you like loud, like american muscle should be. I'll try to get vid or sound clip to post. If its too loud, you're too old.

I'm happy that you are happy, but running w/o cats on public roads is irresponsible.

I would think a car that gets about 30mpg would not be that bad on emissions. It's not like a 74 maverick with the float sticking in the carb. I also will always say that the diesel engine is worse for pollution. Just look at all the black smoke.

Put some Hi-Flo Cats on and clean up that exhaust. You won't notice the difference.

When you are old and lost your hearing, you may wish you had cut the noise.

So you choose to be part of the problem for a .2 HP gain on a car that is already fast?

Amazing how we justify our excesses by pointing out the transgressions of others.......

Actually its more like 5 and yes I am part of the problem but the real question is do I care? NO. There are plenty of other things we need to worry about that are polluting the world over a car. Not to sound ignorant but thats how I feel

Maybe in Oklahoma you feel OK polluting the atmosphere. Come out to California and visit either the Los Angeles or San Francisco metro areas on a warm summer day. Even with the strict pollution control systems on cars today, air quality suffers dramatically, and the major part of that pollution is from motor vehicles. If we still drove vehicles that polluted like cars did in the 60's and 70's, large parts of the SF Bay area (especially the south bay area) and the LA basin would be literally uninhabitable.

There are over 60 million registered vehicles in California. Polluting the air is both a crime, and socially considered "unacceptable" (I consider it stupid).
