I have a 2004 mn6 coupe with 18k on the clock. It is totally stock. I have read here that it is a very bad thing to allow the rears to hop under hard acceleration. I almost never do a full power launch because I get wheel hop with or without Active handling . Is there a suspension fix for this that would be suitable for the street. I dont drag race but I want to be able to get on it if I want to. Has anyone been able to come up with a fix?
Tires will make a big difference in "wheel-hop". Better and stickier tires that will flex will help eliminate "wheel-hop". differnt shocks would be the next step i would take. shocks with better designed valving and weight transfer.
Yes, the original tires may indeed be the issue, or part of it. S they get older, the get harder, and being that they're run-flats, I would THINK you're now also at the point where the lower tread is bringing the stiff sidewalls even more into play. Don't rely solely on my input, though, because as someone else mentioned, shocks may also be a factor. But, if it were me, I'd address the tires first, even though they are more expensive than shocks, because at 18,000 miles you're probably going to need new tires soon, anyway, and replacing them just might help prevent you from spending more on new shocks, too, does that make sense?

its the run flats. I had the exact same problem. Swapped to some softer stickier ties and wheel hop is gone, helloooo traction
Start with tires. The run flats are pretty bad. Then shocks. Go with bilstein sports. Depending on milage/use it could be the bushings. The bushings were what finally cured it in my car. But I have over 100k on mine.

This is what I was looking for. I am in a similar situation, with a lot of miles (132k). Looks like bushings and shocks are on the list - after my cam swap. What is a good source for the bushings, and what type?
I made 4 mods at once. Never had wheel hop with factory wheels, tires, spring settings, and shocks. Now I get it at about 4500 in first gear as the wheels start to break loose. I was very surprised because I never expected it to happen after an upgrade to: lowered on stock bolts, CCW 19's, Michelin Pilot PS2's, and Bilstein Sports. I wonder which is the culprit??? I am suspecting the shocks. I still need to let it settle a little more before an alignment, but I don't think that's it. I am going to crank the springs back up a little and see if that helps. Otherwise, it's not bad, minor actually, so I'll probably live with it.
Go Figure....
I've found that temperature has a lot to do with it, as well. Usually if it's less than 40 degrees and if I'm on concrete, I'll get wheelhop. Once summer comes around, wheelhop goes away.
