Default C5 leaf spring adjustment

I have an 1998 C5 and woundering if by adjusting the bolts on the ends of the, I guess you can call them a leaf spring. can i stiffen up the ride. If so should I do this with the weight on the tires or on jack stands.

You can definitely affect the height of the car as well as the ride quality.
For the rear, you need to raise the car and put jacks under the cross member.
This will unload the spring. Now you can turn the knut (loosen it) until you are a couple of threads from the retaining clip. If you want more lowering, you can take the bolts out and cut part of the rubber bushing off. This has the same effect as getting a longer bolt. If you do too much you will screw up the ride big time. I lowered my C5 and changed to Bilstein Sport shocks. Car really looks great and the new shocks are designed to work with the lowered car. The stocks are not.

Hope this helped.

Do a search on lowering across all forums. There are many, many posts on the subject. Also check the tech tips section for a step by step how to.
