Default Intake manifold upgrade

Hi..looking for some tech advice...
Which Intake manifold is considered the best upgrade for the LS1..
A factory z06, fast 78 or something like the BBk SSi series?? Bascially it will remain a stock engine for the forseeable future, with LT headers probably next year...

Depending on your ultimate goals with the car either the z06 intake (LS6 intake) or the FAST 90 mm intake would work. Your engine probably isn't flowing enough to justify the fast 90 now, but down the road that may change.

If you go even more extreme than the fast can handle there are other options out there as well.

Are there 2 different FAST intakes? a 78 and a 90? if so which 1 would be best with the stock TB...?

That would be a 78 mm FAST. A 90 mm would need a bigger throttle body. Most C5 guys go with a stock 90 mm LS2 throttle body from a stock c6. Like I said if you plan to mod a lot down the road get the 90/90 setup now. If not an LS6 intake would probably work the same as a FAST 78 and cost less than half the price.

If you're sticking w/ stock TB I wouldn't get the FAST.

For a stock internal engine I would go with the LS6 intake (Z06)--Cost is about 1/2 the price of a Fast 78--A Fast 90 setup would be too much for a stock engine--wouldn't benefit you much and would create driveability issues if you don't have full blown tuning software to adjust on it--If money is no object you can go with a Fast 78 and the tops are retro-fitable as you can convert a 78 to a 90 by just replacing the top piece and not the whole manifold--So when you're ready to update to hds/cam etc.-- you sell your 78 top and buy a 90 top (will have to buy a 90 T-body as well)

If your just going to run headers and a K&N filter LS6 factory intake
good enough.

Bascially it will remain a stock engine for the forseeable future,
Go LS6 factory intake, wasting your money on other intakes if your plans hold true

I probably won't do any head work for the forseeable future...currently running a blackwing intake with a BBk duct...will have the stock TB ported & polished ( I've read horror stories about aftermarket TB's) but will likely getting the LT headers next year...so keeping it pretty stock..

LS6 intake is your best bet. It wont do much for a mostly stock engine, but neither will any of the other intake manifolds. LS6 intake is still a good building block for later mods and will still support rediculous HP.
