spark plugs....01 coupe

mine has NGK v-groove vr55 plugs in it.
I have saved the factorysparkle plugs out of my 01 Tahoe and for comparison, they are platinum, but the NGK plugs don't look like platinum, they look like regular steel with the normal center electrodes with a dent in the center electrode to resemble a v....not platinum.
Anyone?
The reason I'm looking at these, is there is a tick tick in the radio that speeds up and slows down with the RPM of the engine, but only on weak radio stations. It sounds like the ignition bleeding through into the radio due to a bad plug wire. I got to the #7 spark plug, and the little screw-on top on the spark plug was loose and had backed off about 3 threads. I was thinking since i was into it, I would put platinum plugs in it, but if the NGK plugs are any good, I'd leave em in. The car has 34,000 miles. Other than that, it's been an absolute trouble-free car except for the reverse switch shorting out.
