Timing Chain Install-Crank Gear

We are doing a head and cam in stall on my sons 2000 camaro. We have the motor all down and the new cam in. We are installing a new Manley double roller timing setup. I have the old crank gear off and the new gear up on the crank but it still is short of being installed all the way.

What are you guys using to get the crank gear all the way up on the crank snout?

Thanks for any help.

I just use an extension and lightly tap it on until its seated. DOne about 10-12 this way no issues.

Or just use the stock crank gear and tap on that till it seats the new one.

And this will not cause any damage to the thrust bearings?

This what I wound up doing. It worked out great. Thanks for the tip. I don't know why I couldn't see doing it this way.
