Default DIC fuel average going crazy ??

the last few times i drove my zo6 the fuel average reading was at 0.0 then i would drive and it would go to all different readings and this morning when i left for work it was reading 0.0 but then shot up to 13.5 after a few miles of driving, and the range also said low but the fuel guage was at 1/2 tank, any known problems with fuel readings? should i disconect battery for 10 min? any ideas....thanks

Default Your not alone

I have noticed my fuel average on my Z intermittently losing fuel average
memory or resetting to 0 at start up. After I start and drive it the fuel
average relearns and will stay current for that day no matter how many
restarts. Is seems to only happen when I let her sit over a long period of time. I noticed i was having battery issues at the same time I noticed
the fuel average losing memory. I just replaced the battery, and still
have one more project to finish before I can drive and see if my battery
was the source of the problem. Have not had problems with the fuel gauge readings yet.
Most bulletins refer to fuel gauge reading inaccurate. Have not found
any for the DIC fuel average.

Last post was on the right track. If, during starting your car, your battery goes below a certain level (I think it is 8.5 volts), it will reset the DIC mileage.

Check and/or charge and/or replace your battery.

Other strange things can happen with a low battery in a C5.

i will check on the battery, and yes it will hold a reading for that day but the next morning it's at zero again, probably a low battery issue as i only drive the car one a week as of late, so im sure it has not had a chance to fully charge and it getting cold at night too which im sure is not helping any... thanks

Default Fyi

Battery seems to be the cure. No reset on fuel average like we discussed.
