Default Targa Top Seals

Anyone have the procedure for replacing the targa seals at the door glass, also including the door pillar seals at the front of the door glass and across the top under the targa top?

If anyone has replaced these seals, can you give me some pointers... These seals are expensive and I want to do it correctly...

Thanks

It sounds like you like to do-it-yourself. I do too if it doesn't get too involved. Invest into the mechanics manual. It will tell you the type of sealant, where to put it and pretty much anything else you need to know to do the job right. The books cost around $150. I invested into a set right after I bought my used 2000 coupe. It has paid for itself several times by preventing me from having to go to the dealership or when I talk to the mechanic he realizes I know something and he isn't quite as likely to tell me grand stories about what it's going to take to get the thing fixed.

I'm in the same boat. Our short winter is approaching and I'd like new weatherstripping as well.

Weatherstrip Replacement - Lift Off Panel
Removal Procedure

Remove the roof lift off panel.

Remove the screws from the ends of the weatherstrip.
Remove the weatherstrip from the weatherstrip retainer.
Clean the surface with 3M™ adhesive remover P/N 8984 or equivalent.
Installation Procedure

Apply a 6.0 X 40 mm (0.25 X 1.5 in) bead of sealer GM P/N 12345739 Canadain P/N 10953541 to the front and rear corners of the retainer as shown in the illustration.
Apply the bead of sealer to the roof.
Apply the bead of sealer to the retainer.
Apply the bead of sealer to the ends of the retainer.

Important
Do not touch the adhesive backing on the new weatherstrip.

Remove the protective backing from the foam tape on the ends of the new weatherstrip, or install two sided tape 3M™ P/N 06377 or equivalent to the ends of a reused weatherstrip.
Install the weatherstrip into the retainer using a nylon spatula or your fingers. Start at the forward edge and work rearward.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the screws at the ends of the weatherstrip. Hold the weatherstrip to prevent the weatherstrip from rotating. Tighten
Tighten the side weatherstrip screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

Install the roof panel.

Funny this should come up, I have the C5 tear in my B-pillar moulding. Dealer wanted $370 to fix it...
