I saw that in 00 they added "pup" cats to the CA vehicles...so if I got a 00 NON-CA vehicle, where would the cats be, and only 2 right? (1 on each pipe)
It wasn't specific to CA. I have a non-CA 2000 that came from the factory with 2 pup cats and 2 regular cats. As far as where they're located, well, they're under the car in the exhaust pipes, pups forward of the regular cats.
Some of the New England states also required the pup cats on the 2000
If you have them, they are small bulges in the pipes just below the manifolds, just like the '01-'04. If you don't have them it looks just like a '97-'99 with the two large cats back under the seat/console area.
But, the 2000 used a slightly different manifold and pipe, so the '97-'99 intermediate pipe and cats won't bolt on it. The '01-'04 will however.
