Spare key

Anyone know if there is some way to get a spare door key made without buying another one with a chip in it??

Its called a valet key and your dealer should have sent you one when you bought the car. Comes in a little pouch that you can keep in your wallet. Bob

Is this supposed to come after the purchase? Now that I think about it, all my other Chevys have these, but not my Vette. Should I be contacting my dealer?

Any locksmith or hardware store can make a duplicate key which will work on the door, glove box, and console box. Without the chip, the car won't start. I keep a spare in my wallet in case I lock the original key in the car. This happened once when I was cleaning the interior. I wiped the door panel with a towel and locked the doors.
