Well, I went ahead and pulled fuse #2 (approach lights...under the hood fusebox) and said goodbye to those distracting DRLs. It will only affect the DRLs and Backup lights flashing when using the FOB to lock and unlock the vehicle at night. Also, I hope I won't have to deal with having to replace those bulbs for a long time...which some folks have said was an easy task and others say it's a real PITA.
GM needs to have an easier system to disable them. Even Toyota's Corolla has a function which easily eliminates them.
Now, I don't send a signal to those holding that radar gun that a Camaro, Firebird, or Vette is coming down the road...and remember..."when the heat is not on you, it's on someone else." :yesnod:
P.S. with the DRLs gone...I no longer attract attention to the fact that my front plate is missing, too.
I have to disagree. I like the DRL's. I figure that anyway to make my car more noticeable and obvious to all the idiot driver's around me, the better. You'll wish you had your DRL's when somebody pulls out in front of you from a sidestreet. Good luck!! :D
QUIKAG, I hear you...but those DRLs were overly bright and they seem to overpower the looks of the car (i.e. others can't tell that a Vette is coming down the road)...It wouldn't have bothered me so much if the intensity of the DRLs was cut by 50% (just a tad brighter than the parking light mode), but they are so bright. Do let us is know when it comes time to change them how long it took you to do so. It seems pretty involved. I know that I couldn't get my hand down to reach the bulb(s) with the hood and headlamps up. And then I tried to move the brake duct underneath, I thought I could maybe move it back to make room, but then putting it back into position. Another method would be to remove the front tire and remove the inner front fender panel (lots of work). And I know that I don't want some tech at the dealership trying to replace them (i.e. possible scratches, etc.).
Rob...that's one heck of a burnout!!
