Oil Pressure 80 over 129!!!!!!!!!!

Oil Pressure 80 over 129!!!!!!!!!!
Last night the oil pressure gauge in my C5 pegged out on the mechanical gauge at 80Lbs. I thought this was incorrect so I checked my digital guage and it is pegged out at 129 lbs.!!!!! What the heck is that all about? Anybody have any ideas as to what could be wrong with it? My first guess is that the oil pressure sending unit is malfunctioning or has given up entirely. I am very concerned about driving the car in this condition. If anyone could please offer up some ideas as to what I should be looking into to get this problem fixed, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks in advance to everyone who responds.

Go98, what viscosity oil are you using and at what engine oil temp are you experiencing this at.
If the mechanical gauge reads approximately the same as the factory digital gauge, it might be a stuck oil pump bypass valve.

No-this has not been resolved yet. I appreciate the tip from above about checking to see what the gauge shows with the key in the run position with the engine not running.. I will try that when I get home. Car is parked at this time.
