Default Help - Window Not Operating

I have a 99 vert and the passenger window has stopped working. It will not operate from the switch or when the top is dropped.
We opened the door panel and the switch seems to be fine and when an external power supply is connected to the motor, the window operates.
I guess there is just one more component - it appears to be some sort of control module. Does it sound like that needs to be replaced? Is there anything else?
Your thoughts?
Thanks!

Can you hear the relay in the door control module click when you push the button?
There are posts about weak relays being a problem.

My window failures have always been where I could hear the relay click, but the window would not go down. I had to change the window regulator assembly, but you say the window works if you bypass the relay, so that is most likely the problem.

Try jiggling the accordion boot on the drivers door and then the passenger door.

If it fixes problem, you have a loose connection. I had problems and traced it to the water tight connector in the boot. I took it apart and examined the pins with a magnifying glass and found 2 that were wider than the rest. I squeezed them down for a tight fit on the mating pins and have not had a problem since.

Here is the door boot: or Das Boot...

Close up of the connector with female sockets for pins:

Here is a close-up of one of the offending connections. You can release them form the plastic by pulling blue locks and then releasing individual connectors with a skinny screwdriver.

I used the same skinny screwdriver to close the gap and create a nice tight connection.

I suspect the two I closed up were never right from the beginning, but were close enough to work for a few years.

No dealer. No parts. Priceless.

I should give credit to Bill Curlee, as his posts & pictures encouraged me to dig into this.

Check your codes ... if you're getting a "NO COMM" from one of the door modules you can fix it by insulating the wire harness going to the door.
