I'm looking to do a cam upgrade this winter. The cams I have in mind are the MS3, G5x3 and thunder racing tr 224/224. Anyone using any of these cams in a DD? I want a nice torque cure as I don't want something that's going to make all its power up top. The car is a MN6 and will not likely see much track time but will occasionally.

I have he comp cam 224/224 .567/.567 LSA 114.
The cam is great for a DD. You'll have better satisfaction then I do wit the A4. Check my sig for other MODs and RWHP/RWTQ
i have a TSP224R cam for sale...$235 shipped
224/224 .581/.581 112
I had it in my car, and wished I would have never gone just slightly bigger. The cam made GREAT power for being called a very mild or baby cam. I ran at the track, and just with that cam, almost ran as good as I did now with a bigger cam and LS6 heads.
I have Texas Speed's 224R cam, which is a 224/224 .581/.581. I went with an LSA of 112. That cam is essentially the same as the TR224, except it has 2 degrees less advance, and it has more lift. I went with Stage 2.5 5.3L heads, and I'm pushing 410whp. The torque curve is awesome, and the driveability is very good. I'm very picky about idle and lope, and the 224/224 on a 112 is about as big as I'd go in terms of overlap (overlap is the most significant factor in idle and driveability).
If you aren't doing heads, the 224R is probably perfect. If you are doing heads, you might benefit from the slightly larger lift on the XE-R lobes (that's my lobes that hit .581 lift).
I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have. Here's my dyno graph and an idle clip.
