I searched topics before I went ahead and replaced the drivers side sender, the contacts looked wore out, got that 100. part and still didnt fix, but i dont have a single code, and several bottles of techron, and one bottle of seafoam didnt work
still just getting random tank levels, it's never consistant
You realize there are two sensors (as the tank is split left and right). The tank fills with fuel on the left (driver's side) first, then spills over to fill on the right (passenger). The fuel is draind from the passenger side until the tank is depleted, then the driver's side. Passenger side tank has a sensor unit, while the driver's side has a sensor unit with an integrated fuel pump (which is why THAT unit is over $500).
A lot depends upon how your fuel gauge is acting and what, if any, trouble codes are being saved.
My gauge works when I fill it up, then almost immediately drops to empty, then picks up when the tank is 1/2 full, so I will try replacing the right sensor only and cross my fingers. There is also a TSB for a PCM reflash that you should do that controls voltage spikes to the fuel gauge due to reaction with high sulfur content fuels. You might try this first as well. Look up the TSB online.
Yes sir, I understand the 2 sensor part of it, when I installed the LPE pump about 20k miles ago, I noticed the contacts on the drivers side sender getting a little bit of wear on them. Thats why I immediately replaced the drivers side sender.
The gauge always seems to show about 1/4 of a tank more than it truly has in it, and there are no codes (even in the histroy) that relate to the fuel sender/gauge.
The pisser is, that it acted completely normal till one day and poof, never been right since...
Thanks for the TSB info, I found the re-flash, but I will loose my tune if I get that reflashed ? (correct ?)

Thanks again for the help!!

Same here. I was on my way home from Cruise-In, leaving Kentucky and POOF! No gauge. Lucky I topped off the night before so I knew there was plenty of fuel.
If you have a custom tune, then yes...ref-flashing the PCM will lose it. I'd rather have my gas guage back though.
