LS6 heads on LS1 engines

LS6 heads on LS1 engines
From what i've been told the LS6 heads are a direct bolt on to the LS1 engines with the exception that LS6 headers will need to be used but what i'm curious of is the increase in the compression ratio in a LS6 engine compared to the LS1. does the LS6 gsin the extra compression through the use of a different piston or through a smaller combustion chamber in the LS6 heads or a combination of the two? Also is there a difference between the bottom end parts of a LS6 compared to the LS1?
