GM Parts house is the way to go. Ive ordered twice from there and have gotten the parts within 3 days each time using the cheapest shipping. Not sure where they are located, but I am in MD

I've received two day service (with ground shipping) from Gene Culley at GMPartsHouse.

GMPartsDirect has had a reputation for what appear to be good prices, followed by higher than normal shipping costs. This makes the "as delivered" price almost always higher than GMPartsWarehouse or Fichtner Chev.
Stick with Gene at GMPW or Bob at Fichtner for your GM parts.
I ordered the part last Monday. This is seven days ago. They told a lie, when I e-mailed them on Friday they stated the part was going out then. The part was not sent out until yesterday 11-26-07.I could have gotten the part here for five dollars more

At least you got an email back. The one time I tried to deal with them, they didn't even respond to my emails. Not to mention the $70 they wanted to charge me to ship a set of 8 piston rings..
I then ordered the needed parts with Gene Culley and never looked back. Gene rocks... All my parts were received in 3 days or less and I had multiple orders.. Thats my go to guy from now on.

I used to use these guys before I knew any better, sometimes it took a couple (read 3 or 4) weeks to get simple stuff.
The final straw came when I was doing some custom work, converting a convertible to a hardtop and they would not order the parts because their computer told them the parts were not compatible with my vin.
They have horrible customer service, extremely high shipping charges and I really don't expect them to remain in business without some serious changes.
Thats funny that this thread just came up because i was in the process of getting calipers from them untill I read the FAQ section and someone had asked why the shipping was so high. The response was that not only is the cost for the shipping but employees cost, and other bs. They ended up being very expensive compared to the price they give at the start. Im gonna definately have to check out that Gm parts house though.!!!!
I have ordered from them in the past without any problems and I very much liked the fact that they showed the GM Part Numbers on their site whereas most GM Parts places don't seem to want you to know what those numbers are for whatever reason. But, as of late, this dealer stopped showing those numbers now as well.
I get a discount at the local dealer, and I found that the GMPartsDirect price, plus shipping is about the same as I can buy from the local dealer. The local dealer gets shipments all the time so there is never any extra freight charges.
If you are not in a hurry for a part, and have to pay full list price at a dealer, it might be worth ordering. Otherwise, find another source.
As mentioned, I don't think they have any parts in stock. The just ship from other dealers or from where ever they can locate the part. That may explain why they charge so much for freight.
i ordered by phone from Gene my z06 sway bar kits on monday the 19th (in the morning) and was promised next day shipping and i received them on november 26th and no responses to my email.
i probably wont buy from them again if this is gonna be the standard.
There are definitely specific parts that are worth buying from them and some not. They dont stock much and it must be shipped to them and then to you. Hence higher shipping prices as well as longer shipment times. When gene sends you an email that says its being shipped to him, obviously it has to get to him and then he must in turn ship it to you. He doesnt try to disguise this and is very forthcoming and explains it in its entirety. I think you didnt fully read or understand what he told you and are now mad. You must pick and choose what parts your order from them and shop around. chevy dealers can almost always have the part next day, And from my experience it seems to be based on if the guy likes you or not if he will give you a discount. Ive been to the same place and one guy will knock a decent chunk of the price and the other guy I cant talk into it for anything. But if you ask and put them on the spot 9 out of 10 times they fold because they can give you a discount.
Sometimes, just telling the dealer's parts guy that you are a member of the local Corvette Club will get you a discount. (although I was able to negotiate a better deal on my own)
