Default Coating Headers?

I just bought a new set of AR long-tube headers. Before I have them installed, I want to learn about coating. I have read on other threads about getting headers coated. Here are my questions:

What is the purposue of the coating?

What material gets coated on them?

Does anyone have a picture to show coated headers?

Where can I have it done?

How much does it cost?

Thanks!
Clif

Look at two websites...JET HOT and HPC (or search "ceramic coatings"). Neither are site supporting vendors so I can't provide a link.
Both are products of aerospace technology. They're a combination of ceramic and metallic material sprayed onto the host metal. Depending on the source, there are a number of colors available. They lower the engine bay temperatures and keep the heat inside the pipes.
Where you can have it done will be answered on either of those two sites. The sites will have images. Many car magazines advertise JET HOT and probably HPC. They've both been around for many years. The cost is also dependent on the source. Expect to pay just over $100 if you buy headers from a vendor and add the coating as an option. Expect to pay about $200 from either source if you send them used headers and have them spray inside and outside, which is recommended.

I'm getting a set of headers coated with Jet-Hot.

I asked for info on their website and they sent me alot of info, a CD, and a formal price quote. They seem to be a good vendor and the product (I think I weeded through the marketing hype) appears to have some good advantages.

I'll find out in a couple weeks........

I have used Jet Hot ceramic coatings for fifteen years. It keeps parts looking brand new. The biggest benefit is that it keeps the heat inside the pipe. This reduces heat in engine compartment and exhaust
(H-PIPE) keeping the floorboard cooler which helps keep inside of car cooler. All +s . JET HOT and HPC are the top two products in the coating business. Frank

I am in luck! I found a place within 3 miles of where I live that does this work, for a great price! Only $180 for a set of long-tubes! Check out their website:

I am taking my new headers there Thursday!
