Default Problems with 17" drag radials??

I want to get 17" BFG drag radials for use at the track. I would put the tires on at home and drive to the track, race 6 or 8 times, and drive home.

Do I need to worry about DIC error codes? What will happen without the air pressure sensors? Will the powertrain go into "limp home" mode?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No issues... Drive to the track, drop some air pressure, race all you want, fill em back up, drive home. Heck, some of the guys around here us the Drag Radials as their everyday tire!

The 17" BFG are the same 26" DIA as your stock tires. You won't have a problem.

I went to 28"dia on my 96 and it set all the codes but has no affect on performance.
I pull the fuse for the pressure sensors on mine so that code doesn't set.
I'm not sure what fuse it is on a C5.

no problems whatsoever. In fact I ended up just leaving them on haha. If you mount the tore to a pair of 17" rims and just leave the 18" off you will get a "service tire system" code because you will have left your wheel sensors on the 18", but other than that nothing.

They are great DR. I cut several 1.6 60's my last time out on them and they are bald.
The key to the BFG drags is HEAT them out BIG TIME. I mean do a VERY VERY smokey burnout.I will sit and smoke for 10 seconds sometimes.

Hey, thanks for the info guys.

Does anyone know what fuse to disconnect on a 2000 to avoid the problem of not having the air pressure sensors?

I never worried about the sensors.. when you change to a wheel without the sensors, i have found that the dic shows the pressure of the last time the stock wheels were on. I have never saw any codes.. good luck.. Also, try to get the 315 drag radials if you can.. :seeya

Chris this may be indicative of a problem in your system. I swap wheels often because I don't want to wast good racing rubber on the road.

When you pull the wheels of and drive again the DIC should give you a message that reads something like shoot, I forgot, like service sytsem monitor" ro something like that. If you do not have sensors on the new wheels just hit reset and ti will go away. It will come back every time you start the car and after driving for a while. No problem, just hit reset.

You avoid this by just reprogramming the sensors with a magnet and you are in business.

None , service tire monitor system. Reset DIC and keep rolling, have done it many times. Don't drive in the rain!
