i've got an '01 with 2K miles. From day one, there is a pronounced clicking sound that appears to come from the fuel injecters that I traced with a stethoscope. As the engine warms up, the clicking sound decreases. Can anyone help me with this as to whether this is normal or not?
I have something similar. About a minute after starting the engine, it starts making a clicking or slightly hollow "tocking" sound that lasts for a couple of minutes, then goes away. Almost sounds like a very quiet diesel. Can't be lifters since it starts after the engine has been running for a minute. Might be piston slap, which is a known issue with the LS1 but not considered by Chevy to be a durability issue. I think I've also heard people say it may be some kind of pump or valve on the engine instead of injectors. One thing is for sure: someone, probably many someones, on this Forum knows the answer. Thanks in advance, and Happy Thanksgiving.
Don't know if this is what is clicking on yours, but several have posted that, the solenoid which bleeds the vapors from the charcoal cannister at start up, produces a clicking noise which stops after a couple of minutes. I think this may be what Gearhead Jim is alluding to in his post.
