Ok, it was a gorgeous Thanksgiving day here in the Buffalo area and we decided to show the Vette to the inlaws. Bear in mind that these are the very same inlaws who weren't informed of the vette's arrival until today, three months later! They are, to put it mildly, conservative. I pulled into the driveway under the scrutiny of raised eyebrows and more than one, "Wow!". My father in law is a policeman and was the first to take a ride. In the interest of broadening his horizons and showing him just what the car could do, I punched it around a corner, just enough to raise his eyebrows. He said, "Holy @*@!!, this thing could take a police car!" The cop in him warred with the fast driving youth he once was, I think. So, we ate dinner, during which I was able to expound on all of the features of the car. (I love a captive audience!!) Then it was my 32 year old brother in law's turn, who insisted that he would be "fine". This guy will not even climb up onto the roof of his ranch home, just to give you some perspective on his risk taking skills. So, off we went..... I hit 120 and his face was beet red. He said, "I can't believe it." We turned onto another road, with no cars ahead of us and hit 130. By this time, I didn't know how he was doing. We started to head back, made a fast turn onto his street and hit 140. By the time I hit 140, it occurred to me that he was no longer speaking and his face had turned from red to white, very white. He did manage a "Wow, this car is FAST." as we pulled back into the driveway. I noticed that he was markedly unsteady on his feet upon our return and immediately retired to the bathroom, mumbling something like, "I'll be right back." Many, many people complain about the weather in Buffalo, but I'll tell you that a day like today and a vette make it not only a plesasure to live here, but a nice memory to pull out on those snowy winter evenings.

I Can Relate :jester Good Story! Reminds me of my driving W/ my wife next to me YELLING AT ME to slow down, Though I'm fully aware that I'm not really nailing it that hard and Im telling her to calm down its OK, she is frightened. WELL, so a week or more passes and we gotta go to the grocery store. She is driving, Im riding next to her, we are in the SS 6spd. We pull out of the Neighborhood and im just relaxing, ya know looking out the window. we pull up to da light.......YUP I didnt see it coming! Mustang come up behind her, swings into the left lane beside her as the light turns green while he is still ROLLIN, we are jus sittin there like knots on a log as he rolls by us Revving. well a womans Reaction time can be a BLUR and I can only assume the stang was in 2nd gear, My Baby Nailed It first, ASR off, Mustang responds a hair slower reaction but was already a car lenth ahead (he was rolling) Now please know, My Wife is no drag racer or street warrior, But she does know the SS very well. She took 1st to about 5800 and her granny to 2nd was clean and swift, Hard Chirp and rearend came out a little to the right Maybe thats what scared me, BAM, She was at the top of 2nd and took 3rd like she owned it,Thats When She Pulled Him..by about a half a car lenth and we all ran out of safe road and shut it down. I Was yelling DDDamnnnnnnnn and she grinned and said dont let me forget the soup mix. We got out of the car my legs were shaking! I had to tell you guys about the kill as I was proud but the moral to it is IT'S ALOT SCARY WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA :flag

hahah! great story! hilarious.

i had a similar incident recently. i was at a local car dealership test driving a used Z06, a 500 HP C5, and a Viper GTS. Z06 first - the used car salesman went with me. we took it out to I35 for the test drive. by the time i merged onto I35 from the entrance ramp, i was doing 90. i shut it down at 135mph. took it easy on the way back. the salesman was really quiet the whole time. when we pulled back in to the dealership parking lot, he jumped out of the Z06 and ran inside. didn't even get the keys back from me. about 2 minutes later, the used car lot manager, came out and cussed me out. he said the salesman was in the bathroom puking. i told the manager that he had no right to talk to me like that, especially since i had spent $150k at his dealership in the past year. he told me to leave the property and never come back. i didn't like his attitude, so i went and talked to the general manager of the dealership. 5 minutes later, i had apologies from a half dozen people, including the used car lot manager. i also had a new salesman, and was invited to test drive any car on the lot, and to test drive it any way i liked. i picked the 500 HP C5 and the Viper. had a good time. :)

Those are some great stories. I don't know why some people have trouble handling fast rides. I've always been one to just hold on, and hope for the best, and then smile when it's all over. And if the person is a horrible driver, then you don't go with him again.

Me toooooo!! Gave my father-in-law a ride in our new Z06. He had made several statements about heavy, poor handling, domestic.... Well at a nice 40 mph drift on a curvey mountain road with a great run through 2nd and 3rd he changed his mind. He mumbled about some new gains and did not speak to me the rest of the day until we left. Ain't family grand :D

Those are some crazy stories guys! Especially the one where the salesman puked. I mean, could'nt he have told you to slow down if he was getting sick. WTF? Great stories!

I think our luck is running out...we'll probably have snow soon, hope so, I've put her to bed....I'd hate to think that I could have waited longer! :confused:
