Okay my BB Bullitts will be here next week. I really want to install them myself. How many of you guys have just cut the stock mufflers off. From what Im seeing if I do it that way i shoud just be able to back up on my ramps and have plenty of room to get the over the axle pipe out, possibly without even removing the sway bar. How many of you guys have done it this way and what if any problems did you run into........... Thanks in advance.......
Never burn your bridges. You may not like your new sound, sell your ride, etc.... or you may not want to toss $400 away. (The value of stock uncut Z06 exhaust on eBay.)
Well - I think it is almost impossible to remove the passenger side catback without swinging the sway bar down - at least it is a lot more trouble than just unscrewing the 4 18mm bolts/nuts on the sway.....
Try to find someone in your area that has a lift. Its a 20 minute job on a lift.
If you don't have any luck there, just fond a muffler shop that will let you watch and / or help with the install.
The stock catbacks are essentially worthless (except Z06 Ti's...), but as noted above, you might need to re-install the stock system for unknown reasons.....

Cut my stockers and installed my Corsas on jackstands. No probs.

This is how high it will have to be w/o cutting the exhaust and with the swaybar loosened. There's no way you could drive up on ramps and swap it out.
It can be done at home and/or without a lift, but it's not for the faint of heart.
Its the stock exhaust no resale value and to quiet anyway. Ive had muscle cars all my life I need some noise. i have a saw saw so no problem cutting the old mufflers off. And according to the muffler guy I talked to theres no need to remove the sway bar if I cut them. He said alls I need is my ramps back up on them and go to work.........

Again, you do not have to remove the sway bar, just take out four bolts, and swing it down. Just like in the above pic. I did not cut mine. I guess I just have a hard time destroying something for no good reason other than laziness.
I could not stand the drone of my Borla Stingers so put my stock system back on and I took them back to where I bought them. I then bought the MagnaFlows but it was a good thing I could use my stock system until I got the MF's on. I did it in my garage on jack stands each time but like stated above it was not for the faint of heart.

Hey! Watch your language. Oh, wait a minute “Magna-Flow’ – never mind.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Yeah, I guess I should watch it :-). I should also clarify a bit. I loved the Borla's in local driving but at hwy speeds' 70-80 mph(1500-1700 rpm's) they were just annoying. Now, I rarely drive at those speed so I wish I had just kept them on. In addition, I put 4:10's in and I would be out of the drone zone at 70-80 mph and I am guessing they would not be a problem for me now.
I was able to install sway bars and a cat back on a lift at the Naval base. So I will let people who have done the installs from the ground make the comments on that.
However, I thought that the components of the base C5 would just take up space in my garage. I was even willing to leave them at the shop. Shortly afterwards some one posted wanting some stock cat back and base sway bars (they were converting their C5 back to stock before selling).
I would remove your stock parts intact. While small, there is a market for stock parts. Then again you may even reinstall them yourself. I know the guy I sold mine to wich he had kept his.
The way I see it even if I cut them and cut them straight , I can always buy couplers from Jegs etc. If I should ever decide to put them back in. Besides if the BBs are to loud I can always sell them and buy somthing else a little more soothing. Like I said Ive had muscle cars since I was 16 years old and have always used flowmasters or somthing similar and they have never bothered me..........
You can get it high enough with a good floor jack and wood. I jacked it up as high as the jack would go, put jack stands under it then used a laminated beam (8-10" thick) to finish the job. I jacked it up just shy of where the nose would touch the ground. They came out no problem.
Of course if you have a lift available that is easier.

Craig, how loud are the Mag flows?. Is there any drone at all? I am after something perhaps a little louder than the Ti ZO6, but only just (I have cats, headers, cam, heads, fast etc.). Also, do you have headers and cats on yours. I am thinking about getting the MFs as well.

Russell, They are fairly quiet except when you go WOT then they come to life. They don't have much drone but some at 1500-1700 rpm but nowhere near what the Borla's had. I do not have headers but do run with cats. I would think they would be louder with your setup and that may be a good thing. I have 4:10 gears now and the little drone they had is no longer an issue because I am out of the "drone zone" when cruising at 70-80mph which was 1500-1700 rpm. I am now at 1900 rpm at those speeds. I have heard the MagnaFlows sound much better with headers since they are just a little louder then the stock muffler system. I would think that they are louder then the Ti's but don't have 1st hand knowledge of that.
You might want to post asking the same question from guys that have your setup. They are pricy so I would hate to see you buy them then not like them.
