alright guys, so pounding on the door doesnt work anymore, i checked the wires and connectors and everything is ok, i even cleaned the connectors and no go. i can hear a click ever time i hit the button, but my problem now is the window is stuck half way down and i dont have a garage. is there any other way to roll the window up since i heard its suppose to rain wednesday, and another thing what is it that goes out, is it the window motor or the little black box on the door. would i be able to install this myself or is it best the take it to the dealer. im thinking the best deal for the part or parts would be gm parts direct.
A stuck window with a straining motor is usually the result of a frayed wire. You'll need a window regulator to fix this permenantly. They're farily easy to install but until that arrives, go out and get yourself a pair of 1-2" C-clamps. Then you can do this:
To do the quick fix, remove the door panel, the plastic around the big hole in the rear and the speaker plate. Cut the wire becuse it's worthless thent raise the window with your hand. Once it's in the full-up position, position the C clamps on the tracks under the window clamps. This will hold the window in place until your new regulator arrives. Doing this will make your car weather proof (I've tested it in a Texas thunderstorm doing 70 on the highway)
