Default MAFT Impressions please.....

I just ordered mine from Fast Toys:D . I heard a slight pinging while I was punching it onto an onramp (sound bouncing off the walls). I was wondering about your impressions of the MAFT? Was it worth the money? How much of a tuning edge does it provide? Did you notice big HP improvements even for decent running cars? Any info you can provide is appreciated, and Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

Oh one more thing... Using the Autotap what should I set the MAFT at? [read what will yeild me the most HP] If there is such a setting...TIA

I've had my MAFT for about 3 weeks. I haven't noticed a big improvement yet. I've done a lot of testing and tuning. I thought I had it right, but my 1/4 mile times were down by about 2 tenths of a second. Need to do more testing. I guess with my limited mods, the MAFT was unnecessary at this time. I'm sure as I mod my care more, the MAFT will play a big part. I'm using the Ease scanner to log my testing. John from TeamZR-1 is an expert in this area. See if he can lend a hand. He helped me tremendously!!

Thanks Aceanaire, yeah I sent John some email. I might be picking that Ease programming up from him. We'll see how much spending money the wife allows.....I just bought about $4,000 of TV entertainment stuff for our new home so I think I have no more fun money. :(

Dave, your questions are generalizing way to much bro.

I first suggest reading my write up about the fundamental operation of the GEN III control systems at:
http://www.vetteguru.com/mods/howto

Its very important that you have some sort of grasp of what your trying to accomplish.

You say you having pinging. Is that with or without the MAFT hooked up?

You can definatly dial out pinging with tuning and optimize performance.

It does take time to get it right. Lots of driving and diagnostics. Will you cut half a second or more off your bone stock motor? Not in most cases. But you will unlease HP that GM has buttoned up for emissions reasons and what not.

Remeber not to fool with the WOT setting on the MAFT until you get your Long Term Fuel Trims dialed in using the BASE Pot.
