LPE and Norris Motorsports quoted me a price of $1500.00 for the LS6 Heads. The gains aren't that impressive when compared to ported LS1 heads...( around 10-15hp ) but for some reason I still want a set.
A good tuner can get 427-440 rwhp with a set of ported LS6 heads and an aggresive cam.
I'm gonna just wait and save until I can afford to get what I want which is ported LS6 Intake/heads with 3.73 gears. Haven't done my homework on a cam selection yet but will likely choose something pretty agressive.
Good Luck !

A properly ported LS1 head will dog stomp a stock LS6 head.
However, a properly ported LS6 head will outperform a properly LS1 head due to fundemental design characterisics.
If you plan on going forced induction, another option is the 2001+ Aluminum 6 liter truck head. It is identical to the LS6 head, down to the D-port and raised intake runner design. The difference is about 4cc less area.
20-30 CFM more in LS6 or maybe 10 HP nice if you have them or tons of money.
I respectfully disagree. As you do more to the car, the gain from the LS6 heads will grow exponentally. As you know, the LT4 head was much better than the LT1, which is why a lot of guys, esp F body guys went with LT4 heads. I plan on doing H/C in the spring, and I'll be going with LS6 heads for sure. If you're gonna do it, do it all the way!!!
Yes a set of ported and polished LS1 heads will produce more rwhp than a set of stock LS6 heads. However a set of ported and polished LS6 heads will produce about 20 rwhp more than comparable LS1 heads.

I would never go stock. I would/am going to go with stage II LS6 heads and cam. Don't compare apples and oranges. I wouldn't compare a ported LS1 to a stock LS6. Copare stock to stock, or ported to ported. Like I said, if you're gonna do it, do it right!
Is there any Difference in the castings from the LS6 to LS1 ? besides higher compression
What I'm saying is wasting 1500 bucks on a set of LS6 and then have a tuner turn them into the same thing that he would have done with a set of LS1 heads. I think before I buy a set of LS6 heads I would be on the phone with a tuner. 1500 would pay for the rest of the mods needed to make these heads work.. Cam,lifters, push rods and rockers etc.

When a tuner ports and polishes a set of LS6 heads the results are around 20 rwhp more than a ported and polished LS1 head. You have to decide if that 20 or so rwhp is worth the money for the LS6 heads. First thing you have to do is fit your pocketbook, lol. My only afterthoughts on the LPE work I had done , is I wish I had gone with a hotter cam. Driveability on my package is equal to factory and the car pulls awful strong. Gas mileage is still excellant, and idles at 800 rpm. With the LPE package I am dynoing considerably more than a stock Z06, and for less money than trading up to an 02 Z06 would have been and still have a convertible. Just my .02 worth, lol. There was a thread on this a few weeks back. There was an article in GMHTP mag doing the LS1/LS6 comparison. The link to this article is in this thread if you'll check back a few. The article said the price difference was not worth the hp gain-7 to 9 more hp, on two identically modded C5s. Just use LS6 intake, LS6 exhausts and port LS1 heads to match. :seeya
