Default Battery side / top Posts

Have anyone change their side post battery cables to top post cables?

The reason, I now had a hole eaten at the Neg Battery side post.
The hole is where the cable attach into the battery. I found it after
I saw some corrosion build up on the battery Neg post.
Took the cable off and found a hole. The pos side is still seal.
The battery look like it double wall, so I don't think it will hurt any thing.
And the hole is cover up when the cable is attact.
It a after market AMG battery.

I certainly don't see a clear cut advantage converting to a top post battery. The corrosion did not accumulate overnight. A little preventative maintenace would have prevented this. The Delco batterys have a history of leaking on C5's, so you really have to be watchful.

You are right, in other GM models as well. I guess I'm just one of those weirdos who spends just as much time cleaning under the hood, as I do the outside of the car.

This is not a new issue with regard the the side post in C5's; however, I've had Delco batteries in two GM cars, and one truck (years from 97-2002) and never experienced an single problem. That being said, I've not heard of good non-Delco battery having this sidepost leak problem.

Anyone experienced this with an aftermarket battery?

I was just thinking about changing to top post if others has problems.
I was just a mis on my part. The corrosion was so small it was hard to see. It just the corrosion ate a hole in the battey terminal connector is the problem and wonder if any one else had this problem, before I start changing cables and replacing a battery.

I did stop at a the dealer today talked to a service person and tech and they do no recomend changing cables at all.

Tech said just get a good AMG battery. What I had happen is not normal, and do not tork the cabels to much or you could punch a hole in some batteries.

Driving back to work that neg cable was real hard to unbolt.
The Pos side was easy compar to the Neg side.

...your cable(s) may already be damaged with corrosion however.
