As Im getting to build my motor I was thinking of the rubber I wanted on my wheels. I will def need something sticky but my car will be a top end car and I been there with drag radials and I know they arent that stable at high speeds or hard cornering. I thinking of going with BFG R1's all around. They arent as sticky as drags but they way stickier than street tires and have stiff sidewalls for cornering. Does anyone out there have that setup or has even used the R1's? BTW they are street legal.
470-500 rwhp 500lbs trq. Wanna get close to 200mph... we'll see. Need some tires just keep rear end in check. Dont want to burn out everytime I give it some gas.

FYI the Veryon uses a Michelin Pilot Sport in a custom size (365 x 710) although the tread pattern looked like a MPS II.
Myself and a friend with just a little more power do road tracks and extensive canyons runs so tire choice is paramount (not to mention top end pulls). We have been through Pilot Sports, BFG R1's, Pirelli Corsa's, Nitto RII's, NT01's, and MPS cups. Where he is at is the NT01's and I am with the MPS cups. Both are great and I don't think that you will go wrong with either. They are far superior than the rest and street legal--just don't get onto wet roads with them.
FYI I am at 700rwhp and have been there for 4 years now.
You don't want road race tires for anything but road racing.
They wear out *really* fast, and they have so little tread
that they're not safe to drive on the street with even the
slightest amount of rain.
Get a good "Maximum Performance Summer" tire. Look over
the available choices at Tire Rack. Anything in that category
will do.
On the flip side, the Maximum Performance Summer tires do
pretty well on the track, at least for the first hour or so of
the day...

I was looking at those on Tirerack. I like the BFG Kd 2's. They have a bitchin tread pattern too. I'll post up what tires I get when I get them and how they hold up. Thnx for the $0.02.

They do not grip anywhere near an R compound tire. For a good grippy budget tire, look at the Kumho ecsta MX or Falken azeni. For more grip, as mentioned before, the Nitto NT-01 is a VERY grippy tire. Anymore then that and you'll be looking at a DOT slick like the Kumho V710
If you're relatively new to road racing - I recommend a dual use tire that's street legal, provides excellent performance on the track while giving you plenty of "feedback" when you're pushing you and your car to the limits. I started on BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD - an excellent tire! It gives you plenty of warning before you loose traction. I would not recommend starting with an R compound, e.g, Hoosier, Kumho, etc. Just my .02.
I've been road racing for 10 years, and still run street tires a lot
of the time, particularly if the track is close to home. It's just
so much easier to drive to the track, run, and drive home.
Sure, you're not as fast on street tires, but you'll know
exactly what your car is capable of in its street trim...
