Default Service Active Handling!

I have a 2002, M6, Convertible. I recently had my EBCM repaired by absfixer.com. After installing the rebuilt EBCM it appears that everything has been corrected with the exception that I've been getting a couple of codes, C1277 & C1284. These codes cause me to get the "Service Active Handling" message. I wanted to see if anyone knows what may be causing this and if it is a EBCM related problem?

It seems to be a speratic problem usually corrected by simply turning the key off and then restarting the car. I have noticed that it seems to only occur when the vehicle is being turned off and usually in the following order: 1. put trans in reverse, 2. set parking brake. 3. turn key to off. The C1284 code usually trips right after setting the parking brake. Is there a sensor in the parking brake that is related to the active handling? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, 1BAV

Had same problem recently. It was the steering wheel positioning sensor. Dealer took care of it and other stuff on the extended warranty.

DTC C1284 Lateral Accelerometer Sensor*** Self Test Malfunction
DTC C1277 Requested Torque Signal Circuit Malfunction

You may need to replace the ***sensor in the lateral accelerometer which is mounted on the passenger side floor just ahead of the inboard passenger side seat rail.

C1277 indicates the PCM is not receiving the requested torque signal from the EBCM or the signal is out of the normal range. The PCM provides a 5 volt signal which the EBCM then alternately shorts to ground producing a signal alternating from 5V to 0V and back. The duty cycle of this signal tells the PCM how much to reduce torque. Normal duty cycle values of the signal are from 10% to 90%. If the signal is 0 all of the time or +5V all of the time that would be out of the normal range. Check and clean your grounds at G101 (EBCM) and G108 (PCM).
