talked to a corvette shop in town. they will install headers for $70 hour labor. owner says they have never installed c5 headers before. he says he will charge by the hour. how many hours shoud a corvette mechanic take to install headers with hi flo catted x-pipe? i was quoted $800 by another shop that charges $80 dollars an hour. i guess they figure 10 hours of labor. seems high to me but thought i would ask...Thinking of getting the LG street catted x pipe set up. does it come with detailed instructions? seems like there should be a easy way to install them.

hey man..i've seen and been quoted anywhere from $500 to $1000 to install headers..usually the good rep shops are the highest. Just make sure they know how to properly install/wire the o2 sensors..these can be a future problem if not handled properly..goodluck
theyre not hard to install, but do take a little time on your first go around. i put mine in using a lift (the lift will save time and a headache). i took my time played a little, ate lunch, no rush. i think it took almost 10 hours. a corvette shop that knows what they are doing would be a lot faster, i bet under 6 hours?
I had my Vararam, LS6 manifold, air bridge duct, Kooks LT headers, X-pipe, front and rear ZO6 sway bars, and GHLs put on at the paramus auto mall dealership in New Jersey for $700.00

I would scratch that first guy off the list. If he has never installed C5 headers before, I would not let him experiment with my car.
If a "pro" with a lift and air tools needs any more than 4 hours, they dont know what they are doing. Most vendors offer the systems installed for an extra $200-$300.
My local vette shop installed my AR headers, X-Pipe, and high-flow cats. They charged me 7 hours at $75/hr for a total of $525. I had this done in Greenville, SC a couple of weeks ago. I love the extra power I now feel!
