reprogram the computer after aftermarket air intake?
I have been told conflicting things so I want to hear what my fellow forum member say. If you install a votex, Donaldson, ect. Do you have to reprogram the computer? or does it automatically re-learn and compensate?

Hey BBQ!
Yes, you won't need to re-program the computer. The puter' will indeed re-learn the idle and throttle control. The re-programming of the computer is more likely needed with a host of mods, or a serious mod like a gear change.
Not that air box upgrade is not 'serious'...Ha
I installed my HallTech, let it idle for 5-minutes. then turned it off. Let sit for another 5-10 minutes, re-started and let it idle for another 5, then took off.
These cars tend to run rich on the fuel side, especially the earlier C5's(97-99s')

When I installed the Air Intake on my 99, I didn't reprogram it until a month later after I learned about the Idle Relearn. It seemed to run better after i did that.
