I have an 02 Vert and in the last couple of days, it feels as if the handbrake cable has come loose as it operates freely without any resistance at all. When engaged, it does nothing for holding the car on even the slightest of incline. Any ideas on where I should start? If it's a loose cable, can I reattach and if so, how. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can adjust the "slack" from the parking drums at the rear wheels.
Also- it might be the lubricant in the ratchet mechanism on the ebrake handle has gummed up. Its best to remove the pass. seat, center console and move the carpet. Then use some brake kleen and clean that entire area and relube it with some sort of machine oil.
